Honouring Life Service

Some families wish to be present when their loved one’s ashes are placed in their final resting place. Our Honouring Life Service provides a respectful and personal way to say goodbye. Family and friends can gather for a short memorial service to scatter or inter ashes in our landscaped gardens or a chosen grave.

What’s Included in an Honouring Life Service?

  • Warm welcome by an SMCT team member.
  • Scattering or placement of urn in the memorial position by SMCT team member or family.
  • Placing of soil by SMCT team member, family or both.
  • If a plaque has been purchased, this can also be placed.*

Families can choose from several meaningful options such as interment of ashes into a grave, witnessing the return of soil after burial, and extended burial attendance.

Our team is here to help with enquiries and bookings. Contact us today to discuss your needs and create a service that feels right for your family.

Families are welcome to bring chairs^, tables, readings, music, or other personal touches to create a tribute that feels personal and meaningful.

This service will be attended for 15 minutes. After this time, families are welcome to continue a private service and share memories to celebrate the life of their loved one.

SMCT can also assist with floral tributes through our on-site florist.

Reservations at Café Vita et Flores

Arrange a reservation for family and guests at our Café Vita et Flores (Latin for ‘life and flowers’).

Terms and conditions

Additional charges may apply (listed but not limited to);

  • Grave ledger removal (may require external stonemason).
  • Interment of additional ashes.
  • Non-standard urns.

*Some memorialisation such as ledgers or dual granite cannot be placed at the service due to health and safety requirements. This will be discussed during the booking process.

^Accessibility Note: For the comfort, care, and safety of elderly attendees or people with disabilities, we recommend families provide chairs.
