Planned price updates from 1 July 2026

  • 8 May 2026

From 1 July 2026

There is a planned price update that will take effect from 1 July 2026.

From this date, SMCT’s prices and service fees will increase by 3.1%. We’re adjusting our prices in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to keep pace with rising costs while maintaining the quality of our service.

Why are prices increasing?

Cemetery and crematoria services in Victoria are regulated by the State Government. Each year, prices are reviewed to ensure they reflect rising operational costs while remaining fair, consistent and transparent for all families.

Under section 43 of the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act, all trust fees of $50 or more must be adjusted annually in line with CPI. These fees are set by the Victorian Government and published in the Government Gazette, meaning cemetery trusts cannot independently set or vary pricing.

The upcoming 3.1% adjustment applies across SMCT products and services that meet this threshold.

What this means for families?

We know that planning ahead, whether for yourself or a loved one, can provide reassurance and peace of mind. To support informed decision‑making:

  • The price increase will apply from 1 July 2026
  • Updated product and service guides will be available on our website from 1 July 2026
  • Current prices remain valid until 30 June 2026

If you are considering pre‑planning or have upcoming arrangements, our team can help you understand what this update may mean for you.
